Installing a new garden gate can be a bit tricky. This article will show you how gate installation services put in new gates in older fencing.
First, you need a gate, of course. You will also need screws, hinges, a latch, drills, a level, and measuring tape.
Now, timber expands and retracts, so you want to make sure you have at least 20mm of difference between the width of the gate frame and the width of the actual gate.
Make sure the posts where the gate is being installed are perfectly level vertically. Then fix the hinges to the center of the top, middle, and bottom pieces of wood on the gate. Line up the hinges on the gate, not the gate post, and screw them on with the drill.
Use a plank of wood underneath the gate to support it above the ground in order to give enough clearance from the ground. When you’re drilling the hinges to the gate post, put in a few screws into each one. Once you’re sure the gate is swinging nicely, put the rest of the screws in.
Finally, center the gate latch and drill it in with screws and your gate is ready to go. For more information, click on the video above.
