Our mouths endure a lot throughout the day and throughout the night. From all the different foods and drinks that enter our mouths, there is a lot our mouths need to embrace and fight off. It is important for us to do our part and help our mouths and gums stay clean and healthy with basic daily rituals like flossing and brushing our teeth twice a day.
With all the different things that enter our mouths, it is easy to see how it would be filled with bacteria. The bacteria in our mouths along with other particles can form a sticky colorless plaque on our teeth. If flossing is kept up with, it can help decrease the amount of plaque. If it not, it can form tartar, which is difficult to be removed unless it is by a dentist. When we do not keep up with the plaque, gum disease will most likely form. Curing gum disease can be a painful but treatable process.
Gum disease causes tender and bleeding gums, painful chewing, sensitive teeth and bad breath that will not go away. If any of these sound familiar, it may be time to go visit the dentist.
Over half of the patients that go to the dentist for cosmetic dentistry are between the ages 41 to 60. The longer that the plaque stays on your teeth and gums and hardens to tartar, the disease gets worse and curing gum disease can become more painful.
A treatment for gum disease is dentures. Dentures are formed from animal teeth, human teeth, ivory, acrylic resin and porcelain. It is just a myth, but it is has been said that George Washington had wooden dentures, and the first officially recorded set of dentures sets all the way back to 16th century Japan. Another way of curing gum disease is with veneers, which is typically made of porcelain which are laid onto the teeth and bonded to the surface. There are also various medications and oral surgery procedures to chose from to treat gum disease. One of these being getting a root canal. While most believe it to be quite painful, it is quite the contrary. With todays technology getting a root canal are no more painful than getting a filling done.
Curing gum disease is nothing that should be taken lightly, and should be treated as quickly as possibly once it has been diagnosed. Curing gum disease can be a quick process or a long painful one depending how it is handled.
