Camping is one of the fastest growing recreational activities in the United States. From 2010 to 2012, the number of Americans camping grew by 3 million people. In total, 43 million people went camping in the States last year.
Why not go camping? The United States has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in all of the world. We have incredible vistas, gorgeous flowing rivers, and seemingly endless forests. For many people, camping represents an amazing opportunity to reconnect with nature and see the world as their ancestors did. Of course, that is only one reason to go camping. If you are still unsure about camping in Michigan, camping in New York, or in any of our other amazing states, here are four reasons you really ought to go for it.
- Teach Your Kids About Nature
- Teach Them About Consideration for Others
- Bring the Family Together
- All the Variety You Could Ever Want
When you take your family camping, you are presented with a rare opportunity to pull your children away from the endless allure of Facebook, video games, and all the other distracting forms of technology they have available to them. Imagine, whether you stay in Ohio cabins or go RV camping in Illinois, you are likely to have a selection of wildlife, mountains, and trees that can be used to teach your children about the wonders of nature.
Camping in Michigan and elsewhere is also a great time to teach your children about consideration for others. A big part of camping is learning to be a good neighbor as others will be in tents or RV parks nearby. In this situation, you can show your children how to clean up after themselves and respect noise limits for the good of everyone.
Of course, the best part about camping is being able to bring everyone together. When you camp, you can invite the whole family along for nights of campfires, games, and camp food. What sort of American does not like camp food, after all? Our favorites are s’mores, followed by hot dogs and tinfoil packet dinners. Many a night have American families spent underneath the stars singing with a guitar around the campfire as they crunch on delicious munchies.
Regardless of whether you are camping in Michigan or camping in Ohio, the fact is that camping provides more variety than any other form of getaway. Consider, when you go to city, you have seen the city. Most cities are not terribly unlike the rest. However, when you go camping, you always see something different; new animals, new trees. You never have to experience it the same way twice. One time you can stay in a cabin, the next in a tent, and the next in an RV.
It is not difficult to see why camping is continuing to become one of the most popular pastimes in the States. It offers us the ability to teach our children, to bring our families together, and to find a new experience wherever we go. Why not take your family camping? Good references here.
We raised our children in NYC. When they got older we decided to start camping. They hated it at first but quickly grew to love the calm of nature.
