You may not realize it, but a lot goes into making sure that the water we drink from our taps is clean, safe, and healthy to drink. Water treatments go a long way in ensuring this drinkability and the process is quite involved. In this video, you will get a tour of a water treatment plant and of the different parts of the treatment process so you can see just what happens to your water before it comes out of the tap, ready to drink.
When water first enters the plant, it is monitored very closely. Things such as pH levels are checked continuously. The water at this stage will be very dirty and not safe to drink. A preliminary sorting of the water will then take place in which solids such as twigs and fish are removed from the water. Chemicals will be introduced and a process that involves bubbles will be used to scrape off any additional solids in the form of sludge. Another stage of filtering will take place and this will remove most of the contaminants.
