Follow These Three Steps to Cutting Back Canadian Cheque Fraud

Posted on July 24, 2013 by admin

Cheques

In Canada, bankers handle over two million cheques per day.

With such a large number of cheques being exchanged, many are seizing the opportunity to commit cheque fraud.

Cheque fraud means that people are stealing personal or company cheques, altering them, and cashing them, often for large sums of money.

How can you protect yourself from cheque fraud?

1. Know That You Have a Choice

Payroll describes the record keeping of employee salaries, wages, deductions, and bonuses. Although payroll from company to company can be very different, businesses have the option of choosing a vendor to distribute and customize their Canadian cheques.

2. Laser Cheques

Cheque vendors like Davis and Henderson Cheque Order know that cheque fraud is a serious concern. To cut down on cheque fraud, many large distributors offer high security laser cheques. Laser cheques are printed with added security features and small details that are difficult to replicate and cut down on forgery.

3. Learn the Different Types of Cheques

People who commit cheque fraud know them, so you should too. In addition to high security checks like laser cheques, sometimes personal or personalized cheques can be harder to get a hold of than business cheques. (The only one who has them is you!)

Personalized cheques date as far back as 1811, when the Commercial Bank of Scotland printed the name of clients along the left edge of their cheques.

Today they are available just about anywhere, including cheque distributing companies like Davis and Henderson Cheque Order.

Fraud is a scary thing. Stop it from happening to you by getting unique, personalized cheques with ample security features. To learn more, read this: www.chequeprint.ca

I was kind of hoping cheque fraud was a thing of the past, lol. I don’t write cheques too often anymore, but I guess I need to keep being careful! I don’t know if I would even notice cheque fraud if it wasn’t for a significant amount of $.

Has anyone seen Catch Me If You Can? Awesome movie, but it really shows how easily he was able to get away with check fraud here (in the US). And I’m sure check fraud is just as common in Canada (and everywhere else for that matter), too.
